Helping to deliver the Christmas Fair for 2017

fair-300x200Vibrant Warsop helped to deliver another successful Christmas Fair at The Shed @ The Adam Eastwood Building on 2 December 2017. Around 750 people attended the event, which really brought the community together.

It was organised by Warsop Community Volunteers from across the Parish including Julie Jackson (WYC), Bill Power, Grant Simpson (Sport4kidz), Susan Barrass and Samantha Wilson (Surestart Parent Group), Geoff Snare and Arty Parkin (Warsop & Shirebrook District Rotary), Ruth Riches, Helen Tomlinson and Christine Parkin (Warsop Inner Wheel), Lee Butcher (sf4kids), Frances McLaughlin (Churches together), Andrew Melles and Cara Bostock (Warsop Scouts) and Maddy Pritchard (Vibrant). There were also extra supporters on the day including Jake Simpson, Nigel Jackson, Chris Wade, Kath Pritchard, Sharon Pritchard, Patricia Pritchard, Lisa Butcher and staff from Warsop Co-op.  Edwinstowe Lions provided their sleigh for the Rotary Santa Ted Smith.  Our thanks to everyone who was involved. From War Veteran to Classroom Hero

IBilln November 2017, six Meden School pupils participated in the Youth in Action project, learning about the reality of combat from a real life Warsop veteran, Bill Power (pictured right).

The sessions were set up and supported by Caroline Hughes from Creative Warsop, who arranged for Bill to visit the school to talk to the young people about his five tours and twenty years of military service. The pupils were enthralled as Bill took them through a 300 year historical tour of the conflicts and history of the Light Infantry. He explained some of the battles and skirmishes that had played a key part in English and Irish heritage and had forever shaped our country’s future. (more…)

Developing The Shed for the whole community

WebPicsWebVibrant Warsop is continuing to develop The Shed @ The Adam Eastwood Building as a community hub resource for the local community.

The Shed provides a space for hire for all kinds of activities, including events, markets, parties, classes and workshops. The venue is used regularly during the week for Youth Club on a Monday, Warsop Judo Club on Tuesdays, Community Sports on Wednesday, the Youth Roadshow on Thursdays, and for Extreme Fridays sessions, but there are plenty of daytime slots available for private hire during the week and at weekends.
