13th December

Local resident, retired Nurse and Senior University Lecturer, Mary Birchenall is an active volunteer within the community and at St Peters and St Paul’s church. Mary is sharing with us her beautiful children’s story ‘A Very Special Star’ about how the star came to be an important decoration on our Christmas Tree or above a Nativity scene. There are actions for children to join in with and it is a lovely story to share and talk about together.

Thank you for bringing it to life for us Mary.

This year St Peter and St Pauls Church with St Augustine’s will be live streaming their Christmas services. They will miss having everyone in church but would still like you to join them virtually to celebrate this very special and important time of year in the Christian calendar.

You can watch the live stream through the Church Facebook page Warsop Parish Church with Sookholme St.Augustine | Facebookor you can also follow this link: http://go.warsopparishchurch.org.uk

Today’s Christingle Service which will be streamed from St Peter and St Paul’s Church at 4pm

This is a celebratory service where Christingle’s are lit to symbolise the light of Jesus, bringing hope to people’s lives.

To make a Christingle you will need :

  • A Large Orange- this represents the world

  • A Red Ribbon or tape that is wrapped around the orange- this symbolises the love and blood of Christ

  • Sweets and Dried Fruit, threaded onto cocktail sticks and stuck into the orange- this represents all of God’s creations.

  • A candle, which is stuck into the top of the orange. The candle is lit at the end of the service to represent Jesus bringing light and hope in the world.

There will also be a  Carol service held this evening at 6pm, streamed from St Augustine’s Church at Sookholme. Click here to access the webpage to stream the service http://go.warsopparishchurch.org.uk or watch via the Church Facebook page Warsop Parish Church with Sookholme St.Augustine | Facebook

We would love you to join us as a collective voice in song from your own homes to continue our tradition of singing Carols to celebrate the wonderful Christmas period.
